About: Oscar and his family have been producing coffee at Pino de Oro since the 1950s. The 13 manzana farm was originally purchased by his grandfather, and then passed down to his father, and then finally – in 2006 – passed down to Oscar. Surprisingly, to Oscar, success came pretty quickly – winning the Cup of Excellence (COE) competition in 2011, just five years after taking over the farm. Despite three further top 12 finishes, Oscar stopped competing in the COE, because he felt he was no longer competitive against other farmers. He decided patience was the key; to wait for the perfect union of variety, process, and harvest. He planted Pacamara, focusing on quality more than quantity, waiting for his moment to arrive, and in 2023 it came. Achieving another 1st Place finish, scoring 91.78 points, and a Presidential Award. Oscar believes that his family’s dedication to their coffee, and the hard work required, is what makes his farm special, and is the key to making the coffee taste great. He’s planning to invest the income from his COE win back into the farm, further improving the quality of his coffee. This Natural Pacamara is loud and fruit forwards, with big blackcurrant and tropical fruit vibes.
