About: Mauricio Botina (the brother of the well-known Miguel Botina) is an accomplished coffee producer in his own right. Apart from managing his two farms, Los Lagos and La Foresta, he is also a certified Q grader, Q processing professional, and the director of quality control at the Colors of Nature research centre and mill. Mauricio is passionate about good coffee and has travelled around Colombia and Costa Rica educating producers on how to make theirs tastier. When he isn’t deep in coffee Mauricio is farming fish, which he sells in the town as an alternative income stream for his family.
