About: Oreti Estate is named after the beach at the very bottom of the south island in New Zealand where Boyce’s grandmother is originally from. During the harvest season, the estate provides a lot of jobs for the local community. The Harries family have also cofounded the Wabeni Technical Institute that teaches local children practical skills to help them make a living. This lot is made up of a mix of all the varieties that grow on the farm: French Mission, Ruiru 11, Batian, & SL14 & 28. Its ‘AB’ grade is a denotation of bean size and includes beans 6-7mm and up. Sorting coffees by size creates different flavour profiles and makes it easier to get an even roast. AB grade coffees have a balanced acidity and diverse range of flavour profiles.
